Bold. Distinctive. Inclusive.
Our vision for Hogan Lovells is to make a meaningful positive impact in our firm, within our communities and on society more broadly, and to establish ourselves as one of the market leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion.
Reflecting this, delivering on our commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion is one of the five key strategic priorities of the firm, on a par with putting clients at the center of everything we do and enhancing profitability. We are actively creating an inclusive workplace where each of our people can thrive, by mitigating unconscious bias and actively creating opportunities for and supporting our colleagues. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion makes us a better law firm and helps us to deliver the best experience for our clients, attract and retain the best talent, and drive innovation.
We have a separate DEI function which reports direct to the firm’s CEO. Our global team of diversity professionals works with our global DEI Committee comprising partners from around the world to deliver on these commitments using a strategy focused on:
Accountability
Processes
Recruitment & retention
Culture
Clients

These are the five pillars of our global DEI strategy:

Accountability
We hold ourselves accountable with ambitious, attainable metrics by identifying external and internal goals to guide our progress, and by educating and inspiring all of our people to make meaningful investments in their colleagues.

Processes
Institutional change is our focus as we implement work allocation and other processes to ensure work and pitch opportunities are equally allocated to underrepresented lawyers.

Recruitment & retention
We want the best and brightest talent at all levels, and will take a holistic approach to get there from briefing our recruiters on our expectations for diversity to providing billable credit hours for DEI activities to providing mentoring and sponsorship.

Culture
Individuals are the bedrock of our culture. We make available training on bias and inclusive leadership and empower allyship to ensure everyone feels they belong and can contribute as their authentic selves.

Clients
Providing excellent client service is what we do at Hogan Lovells. We enhance that service through partnering with our clients on mutually beneficial DEI initiatives and providing consulting services to strengthen their DEI initiatives.
Our focus areas
We prioritize cultivating an inclusive environment for all of our people. While gender, race/ethnicity, LGBTQ+ and disability are the four diversity strands that comprise our efforts globally, our regional initiatives support additional diversity strands including age and social mobility.
Gender
We are a leader for women, being the first global law firm to publish goals for women partners and women in management and to have a global agile working policy that is widely available.
Race and Ethnicity
Our aim is to reflect our clients and communities. We have published a goal of 15% racial/ethnic minority partners by 2025, and established initiatives to support our racial/ethnic minority colleagues throughout the employee lifecycle.
LGBTQ+
We are deeply committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion globally as advocates and innovators. We aim high, with a published goal of 4% LGBTQ+ partners by 2025, with robust programs implemented to help us get there.
Disability
Building on our longstanding commitment to disability inclusion, we have elevated disability as a global priority diversity focus. We are proud signatories to The Valuable 500 making commitments to ability inclusion.
