Hogan Lovells wins European Joint Venture Tax Deal of the Year
We advised the world's largest credit insurer Euler Hermes (Allianz Group) on its international joint venture with Spain's leading insurance group Mapfre, on all legal aspects of the transactions.
The joint venture, operating under the brand Solunion, was a strategic transaction for both groups, with Euler Hermes bringing its expertise in credit risk underwriting and its systems, rules and standards, while Mapfre contributed a strong distribution and sales network in the region. The joint venture will have a leading role in each of the markets in which it will operate.
Corporate, regulatory and tax lawyers in our Madrid, Paris, Miami and Washington, D.C. offices worked alongside local counsel in Latin America to assist Euler Hermes on the due diligence, regulatory analysis, transactions structuring and contract negotiations.
Paris partner Xenia Legendre co-ordinated our international tax team on this matter, which included Paris tax senior associate Virginie Aidan, DC tax partner Steve Giordano, Madrid tax partner Javier Gazulla and Madrid tax senior associate Juan Garicano and tax partners from several Latin American firms in the relevant jurisdictions.
