European Green Deal

Green Competition

Following the UN2030 deal and the Paris climate agreement, the European Green Deal has been presented by the Commission as a growth strategy aiming to make Europe the first climate neutral continent by 2050.

However, companies engaging in Sustainability and ESG face competition concerns. For example, there is a potential conflict between competition rules and sustainability goals where companies collaborate with the aim of accelerating the pace of change to support ESG development.

In this webinar we will explore:

  • How competition authorities across Europe are enforcing European competition law in cases which present sustainability issues.
  • The tools available to enforcers and regulators to take into account sustainability concerns when it comes to behaviours which are likely to fall under the competition law scrutiny.
We are delighted to be joined by an esteemed panel of guest speakers:
  • Dr. Dirk Middelschulte, Global General Counsel Competition, Unilever
  • Dr. Cristina Volpin, Competition Expert, OECD
  • Karima El Sammaa, Global Senior Antitrust Counsel and Compliance, GE Renewable Energy
  • Massimiliano Kadar, Deputy Head of Unit, DG Competition, European Commission
