As a counsel of our Corporate practice from the launch of our Luxembourg office, Alexander Koch brings extensive experience in matters including mergers, demergers, acquisitions, private equity, real estate, corporate finance, restructuring and insolvency and provides as well general corporate and commercial advice to clients from a wide range of industries. Alexander Koch holds a law degree (first state exam in law) from Passau University (Germany) and passed the second state exam in law in 2005 upon completion of his post graduate judicial clerkship with the Land of Bavaria. He received additional degrees in economics from Bayreuth University (Germany) and in European law and politics from Université François Rabelais (France).

After training at the United Nations in Geneva and a leading Swedish law firm in Stockholm, Alexander Koch obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in international commercial arbitration from Stockholm University (Sweden). Alexander Koch is a member of the Luxembourg and Frankfurt/Main Bar Associations since 2008 and had worked for six years in the corporate department of a well-respected Benelux law firm in Luxembourg prior to joining Hogan Lovells. Multilingualism being a part of everyday life in Luxembourg, Alexander Koch is fluent in English, German and French as well as having a working knowledge of Spanish and Swedish.

Representative experience

Advised Swissport, an aviation industry key player, on his acquisition of Aerocare, one Australian and New Zealand air services market leader for USD 620 million.

Advised Charterhouse capital on 60% acquisition Serb (Belgian pharmaceuticals business) which reported EUR 65 million in revenue in 2016.

Advised ACON in the acquisition of the Spanish Contenur, active in conteners and bins, through a Luxembourg investment and financing platform.

Advised listed U.S. company PerkinElmer, on the acquisition of EUROIMMUN Medizinische Labordiagnostika for EUR 1.2 billion, by way of a share deal.
