Susan M. Cook

Washington, D.C.

Susan M. Cook

Susan Cook is a first-chair litigator who represents clients involved in complex commercial litigation, with a particular focus on the life sciences, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, consumer, and technology industries.

Susan has robust experience in Administrative Procedure Act (APA) cases against federal and state agencies. She also routinely handles disputes among competitors and contract parties, including in the areas of the Lanham Act, unfair competition, false advertising, and trade secret litigation.

Susan regularly represents pharmaceutical companies in APA challenges involving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and other federal agencies. In such cases, Susan works seamlessly with members of the firm's regulatory groups.

In the areas of competitor and contract disputes (including unfair competition, false advertising, and trade secret litigation), Susan regularly advises clients before disputes arise. When matters end up in court, Susan helps each client craft a unique litigation strategy targeted to its own specific goals.

In her more than 17 years of practicing law, Susan has litigated in federal and state courts around the country, as well as before arbitration tribunals. Susan has been praised for her "keen abilities" by Managing Intellectual Property, which named her one of the Top 250 Women in IP in 2013 and 2014.

"The IP practice at Hogan Lovells benefits from the keen abilities of Susan Cook regarding her litigation work in patent, trademark, copyright, and Lanham Act cases as well as her experience with Section 337 proceedings before the ITC."
