Tax boost for corporate practice at Hogan Lovells

Hogan Lovells announces that Elliot Weston is joining the London corporate practice as a tax partner.

Elliot joins the firm from Gowling WLG, having trained, qualified and built his practice for over a decade at Linklaters. Whilst at Gowling, Elliot built up a successful practice focusing on real estate and funds.

Elliot represented the first UK student accommodation REIT, GCP Student Living plc, in its admission to the London Stock Exchange. His broad practice also covers mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, funds, capital raisings, corporate reorganisations and financing transactions, and regularly advises institutional investors, corporations and investment managers in the real estate sector.

A member of Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group and the Property Industry Alliance Technical Committee for REITs, Elliot is also a contributor to the “UK Property Funds Directory”. His funds expertize broadly includes acting for investors and fund managers on the formation, downstream investment and capital raising of private and listed funds, in the UK and internationally.

Commenting on Elliot's appointment, Karen Hughes, Practice Area Co-Leader - Tax, said: "We are delighted to welcome Elliot. His mix of technical expertize and client focus is exactly what we look for in our tax people. He will no doubt be a valuable addition to the team where he already has a number of clients in common with us. Given his significant track record in the real estate sector and in the funds market, I know he will help bring further opportunities across the corporate practice group."

Elliot added: "I am hugely excited to join Hogan Lovells, a firm I have always admired. Its market-leading strength in funds and real estate and its international capabilities make it a very strong fit for my practice. I am looking forward to helping grow the tax practice at Hogan Lovells."
