22 July 2014

Madrid, 22 July 2014

Hogan Lovells has recruited partner Silvia Bauzá Hernández to join its Madrid employment team.

Silvia joins on 4 August from Gomez-Acebo & Pombo where she has been a partner since 2007. Before that she worked at Garrigues. She has particular expertise in individual and collective conflicts, judicial processes and employment risk prevention.

Silvia regularly advises on the negotiation of collective bargaining, collective restructuring and collective modifications. High profile matters that Silvia has worked on include advising Paradores de Turismo de España on the first mass redundancy process carried out by a Spanish public company, affecting more than 4,000 employees; advising Capgemini on a collective dismissal involving the application of recent legislative reforms; and advising Japan Tobacco International (JTI) on several restructuring processes and collective negotiations.

Silvia is highly regarded in the market and has participated in working sessions with the Ministry for Employment and Social Security, and been recognised annually by Best Lawyers and Chambers Europe.

Commenting on Silvia's arrival, Barbara Roth, global head of Hogan Lovells' Employment practice, said:

"Silvia has an excellent reputation in the market and is a welcome addition to our global employment practice. Given recent changes in labour regulations to increase companies’ employment flexibility in Spain, her expertise in collective conflicts will prove an invaluable addition to our Madrid team."
Silvia added:

"Hogan Lovells' global platform and employment presence in each of the major European jurisdictions is an exciting proposition that will allow me to expand relationships with multinational clients, both cross-practice and cross-border. I am very much looking forward to working with the team here in Madrid and globally."
