Hogan Lovells makes changes to office and practice area leadership roles

18 December 2020 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells announces today it has made a series of planned changes to some of its office and practice leadership positions.

Commenting on the rotations, global CEO of Hogan Lovells Miguel Zaldivar said: "We regularly make changes to our leadership roles. It allows us to recognize the talent we have within the firm and reflects the quality and depth of our partners globally.

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to those leaders who are stepping down from their roles, for their considerable contribution to the firm during their tenures. I have the greatest confidence in the new members of our leadership team and wish them huge success in their new roles."

The changes are as follows: [effective from 1 January 2021 unless specified]

Office Managing Partner changes:

  • Mexico City -  Omar Guerrero will be the new Office Managing Partner for our Mexico office, replacing Juan Francisco Torres-Landa who will continue in his role as Head of the Latin America Practice Group
  • Northern Virginia – Carine Stoick will be the new Office Managing Partner for our Northern Virginia Office, replacing Thomas Connally. Jon Talotta will be become the Office Administrative partner
  • Brussels – Christopher Thomas became our new Office Managing Partner for our Brussels office taking over from Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte in October
  • Amsterdam - Manon Cordewener will be the new OMP for Amsterdam taking over from Jan de Snaijer
  • London - Penny Angell will formally take over Susan Bright to become Office Managing Partner of the UK Office
  • Tokyo -  Dr. Frederick Ch'en will be the new OMP for the Tokyo office, replacing Lloyd Parker who will focus on his newly expanded role of Regional Managing Partner for the APAC region [effective 21 December 2020] 

Global Practice Area Leader changes:

Corporate & Finance

  • Paul Mullen is the new Global Practice lead for Banking replacing Penny Angell.

Global Regulatory

  • Patrick Ayad will be the practice area leader (PAL) of the newly formed Strategic Operations, Agreements and Regulation practice area. [This group was previously part of the Commercial practice area which use to sit under Corporate & Finance Practice] 
  • Jon Chertkow will be the PAL of the Financial Services practice area, taking the reins from Emily Reid
  • Ajay Kuntamukkala will take over from Beth Peters as co-PAL of the International Trade and Investment practice area alongside Deen Kaplan, with Beth Peters joining the Global Reg & IPMT leadership team. Lourdes Catrain, who has been a co-PAL of the practice for 10 years alongside Beth and Deen, is stepping down. 
  • Scott Loughlin will be co-PAL of the Privacy and Cybersecurity practice area alongside Eduardo Ustaran, taking over from Marcy Wilder, who is joining the Global Reg & IPMT leadership team. 
  • Amy Roma will be the PAL of the Energy practice area, taking over from Stefan Krantz, who is joining the Global Reg & IPMT leadership team. 
  • Ron Wisor will be the PAL of the Health practice area, taking over for Sheree Kanner, who is joining the Global Reg & IPMT leadership team. 
  • Audrey Reed will join the IPMT Leadership Team as practice area leader for IPMT Transactional underlining the importance of this fast growing part of the practice Helen Xia will be the practice area leader for IPMT in the APAC region replacing Lloyd Parker.
