London, 27 August 2019 – Hogan Lovells has advised long-standing client Swansea City Council on the procurement land acquisition and the regeneration of the Mariner Street car parks, a key gateway site into the City.

Having been stalled in 2008 by the financial crisis, the Council is delighted that the project is on-site with its longstanding developer, now backed by Fusion Global Investments, a major student accommodation developer and provider.

The Hogan Lovells team was led by partner Dion Panambalana with support from senior associate Edward Newport.

Commenting on the project, Dion said:

"We are proud to continue to represent Swansea City Council on major projects in this fantastic coastal city.  This one has been a slow burn and big credit must go to the Council and its developer for keeping this important project alive through thick and thin and bringing in a major development partner in Fusion."

Swansea Council leader Rob Stewart added:

“This important site will be home to a bold building that will help get thousands more people living in Swansea city centre, spending money here and adding new life and vitality to the streets and to local business.

“It illustrates how Swansea is a city undergoing an exciting wider transformation. Swansea is on the up. This tower will be an exciting addition to the city skyline and symbolises our successful regeneration.”
