Art Around Every Corner – Hogan Lovells proudly supports Event Horizon by Antony Gromley in Hong Kong

Hogan Lovells is pleased to be the legal sponsor of Hong Kong's largest city wide public art exhibit: Event Horizon by Antony Gormley in partnership with the British Council.

Event Horizon involves the display of thirty one sculptures across Hong Kong’s Central and Western districts, both at street level and on building tops. Launched on 19 November this year, the exhibit will remain until 18 May 2016. First shown in London in 2007, the piece has been featured in Rotterdam, New York, São Paulo, Rio di Janeiro, and now Hong Kong.

Partner Mark Parsons, Counsel Kelvin Lee, and Associate Tommy Liu advised the British Council on the drafting and negotiation of all commercial agreements relating to the project, including art loan documentation, project services agreements, sponsorship agreements, licences of intellectual property rights, and landlord consents for the placement of the sculptures. As a result of our contribution, Hogan Lovells is a partner sponsor of the event.

Artist Antony Gormley's comment on the installation:
"Event Horizon captures the particular time of a particular body: a subjective place. The principle dynamic of the work is the relationship between imagination and the horizon, involving the citizen in a game of seeking and perhaps finding. Beyond those figures that you can actually see, how many more are out of sight? Where is the meeting place of earth and sky? Through the catalyst of Event Horizon I want the city of Hong Kong to become a place of reverie that invites reflection on human nature and our place in the wider scheme of things."
