Michael Thiesen advises national and international clients on all aspects of data protection, information technology law and intellectual property law.
His area of expertise lies especially in the area of data protection compliance issues, outsourcing and IT implementation from which our clients can benefit both in contractual matters and M&A transactions.
Michael counsels on data protection matters, including data transfers, app and website compliance and the implementation of data protection policies. His practice also includes the drafting and negotiation of IT agreements with clients from a wide range of industries, including finance, insurance and life sciences.
He is CIPP/E certified.
Michael studied law at the University Muenster and early focused on intellectual property and information technology law. Michael worked at the chair for Information, Telecommunication and Media Law in Muenster for a total of seven years as student assistant and research associate and obtained a Ph.D. in law with a thesis on digital inheritance. During his legal traineeship, Michael gained experience working at the German Embassy in Wellington (New Zealand) and the Dusseldorf office of Hogan Lovells International LLP.
