Sarah de Magalhaes joined the Paris litigation team as an Associate in 2019. She focuses her practice on commercial, civil and product liability cross-border disputes in various industry sectors, with an emphasis on the technology and automotive sectors. She has extensive experience in large-scale litigation, including class actions.

Sarah is involved in the technology sector and data related disputes pending before the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and French Courts. She also represents online platforms and hosting providers in summary proceedings regarding data collection, retention and disclosure.

Sarah also regularly assists clients facing both pre-litigation and litigation claims in complex issues notably arising from automotive and technology products. She defends leading car manufacturers and suppliers in sensitive supply chain disputes and product liability issues.

In addition, Sarah has developed particular expertise in litigation cases related to the enforcement of foreign judgments, assets recovery issues and related enforcement measures, notably arising from simulation claims involving fictious companies. She represented major international banks by initiating various proceedings to attach different types of assets (e.g. company shares, real estate, bank account, etc.) and exequatur proceedings before French Courts.

Sarah holds a Master's Degree in Commercial Litigation (Paris I - Panthéon Sorbonne) as well as an LL.M in International Business Law in Singapore (Sorbonne Assas International Law School) in partnership with INSEAD.

Defending a company in the scope of a data class action launched by a French consumer association on the ground of an alleged failure to comply with the provisions of the GPDR

Defending a company in sanction proceedings initiated by the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) in relation to alleged breaches of the GDPR

Assisting a major hosting provider in the scope of summary proceedings related to data collection, retention and disclosure 

 Advising major companies on strategy and guidelines related to class actions

Representing a major international bank in enforcing claims and foreign judgments

Representing a major international bank in the scope of preliminary enforcement measures by initiating various proceedings to attach different types of assets before French Courts

Defending a German car manufacturer in a complex cross-border civil dispute following the bankruptcy of one of its suppliers

Assisting a global automotive supplier in several disputes against its own suppliers

Advising a pharmaceutical company on French provisional enforcement measures and prejudgment relief

Assisting a global leader in cybersecurity regarding the termination of a licence agreement with a Russian company following the enactment of 2022 sanctions

Advising clients on French regulatory and liability issues and road traffic rules for the operation of autonomous or connected vehicles
