Manuel Valdez uses a pragmatic approach to assist clients in achieving their business goals. His practice focuses on finance, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and FinTech law.

He has worked on the creation of special purpose vehicles (SPVs), shareholder agreements, trusts, escrows, due diligence, convertible notes, and structured financings.

His recent focus has been on FinTech, in which his experience has ranged from the preparation of authorization requests for collective debt financing and electronic payment fund companies before the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV), to the creation of agreements for various participants in the Mexican financial system in joint ventures with FinTech companies, and the issuance of means of provision and agreements with payment system members.

IDB Invest in a US$75m financing to El Rosado hospitality company to partially fund its energy efficiency and green energy generation projects and refinance short-term debt.

IDB Invest in a US$300m financing to Engie Energía Perú, a Peruvian electricity generator, in connection with the development of the Punta Lomitas wind farm located in Ocucaje, Ica, Peru.

IDB Invest in a US$200m financing package to Grupo Piñero to support the reopening of its hotels in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica that were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

IDB and IDB Invest in a US$100m financing to Inversiones Coconut hospitality company to support the continuity of its expansion plans in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IDB Invest in a US$15m financing to Consejo De Asistencia Al Microemprendedor (CAME), a financial institution organized under the laws of Mexico, in an amount denominated in Mexican Pesos.

IDB Invest in a US$50m mezzanine facility for Selina, a global chain of lifestyle hotels, to support the continuity of its expansion plans in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IDB Invest in a US$10m financing to Te Creemos, a financial institution organized under the laws of Mexico, in an amount denominated in Mexican Pesos.
