After more than two years of effort, including a clemency petition filed in November 2018, a team in Boston secured the release of decorated Vietnam veteran Kenny Kubinski.
Mr. Kubinski was an Army infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division, earning three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and an Army Commendation Medal. In 1994, he was sentenced to multiple life sentences after he was convicted of first-time, non-violent drug trafficking offenses.
Over the course of 25 years, Mr. Kubinski was an exemplary inmate and received zero disciplinary actions. Numerous prison personnel and correctional officers wrote letters in support of his release. Mr. Kubinski's motion for compassionate release was filed pursuant to the First Step Act and on the basis of his failing health, chronic pain and age.
Mr. Kubinski's release was granted on May 13, 2020. We were honored to represent him and are thrilled that after more than 25 years in prison, he has now returned home to his family.
