Q&A: Hogan Lovells' Ivan Zapien on diversity and the future of lobbying

"News and adrenaline junkies." That's how Ivan Zapien describes the personality profile of the typical lobbyist.

As a lobbyist for more than 20 years, he should know. Zapien, government relations and public affairs practice leader at Hogan Lovells, has taken on challenges for major retailers and U.S politicians. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells in 2017, he worked in Mexico, leading Walmart's corporate affairs. Zapien was also chief of staff to Sen. Robert Menendez, then congressman, for three years.
