Hogan Lovells advises InfraRed Capital Partners on its first investment in a German road PPP-Project

Press releases | 30 May 2022

Led by Frankfurt partner Alexander Stefan Rieger, international law firm Hogan Lovells has advised international infrastructure investment manager InfraRed Capital Partners on its first road investment in Germany, the acquisition of a 50 percent equity interest in the B247 Mühlhausen-Bad Langensalza Public Private Partnership (PPP) project. Key support was provided by Hamburg-based partner Carla Luh and by Frankfurt-based Partner Jörg Herwig.

The interest was acquired from Vinci Concessions Deutschland GmbH and the transaction is already completed. The total investment by InfraRed Capital Partners into the project will amount to approximately EUR 12 million, the overall project volume amounts to more than EUR 500 million.

The B247 motorway marks the first German federal road (Bundesstraße) PPP project. It is a new 22km road that will link the cities of Mühlhausen and Bad Langensalza in the German federal state of Thuringia. The 30-year PPP covers the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the B247. The project reached financial close in September 2021 and construction is expected to be completed by VINCI Group companies in June 2025.

Hogan Lovells advised InfraRed Capital Partners on all legal aspects during this transaction.
