Hogan Lovells advises ATR on merger with Beiselen Holding

Press releases | 05 January 2021

Led by Hamburg partner Andreas H. Meyer, international law firm Hogan Lovells advised Ratzeburg-based ATR Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH on its merger with Beiselen Holding GmbH headquartered in Ulm. The two companies will merge to form BAT Agrar GmbH, effective January 1, 2021, with approximately 1,500 employees and more than two billion euros in sales.

While Beiselen's focus has so far been on the wholesale of agricultural supplies, ATR is closely linked to agriculture as a strong sales organization. The Beiselen, ATR Landhandel and ATR Futtermittel divisions will now continue to operate under the holding company BAT Agrar GmbH. In the new structure, the wholesale business will be allocated to Beiselen. ATR Futtermittel and ATR Landhandel will specialize in direct business with the agricultural sector. The merged company's business activities will also include foreign operations in Austria, Poland and Denmark.

With domestic warehouses and transshipment points in German seaports, ATR is one of the country's largest grain exporter. Beiselen GmbH is considered the leading private agricultural wholesale company in Germany.

Hogan Lovells advised ATR on all corporate and regulatory aspects of the transaction.
