Rebecca Horton is a senior associate in the IPMT practice. Her practice focuses on intellectual property disputes and other complex commercial matters.

Rebecca has successfully represented clients in matters arising in federal and state courts relating to patent infringement, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and breach of contract.

Rebecca’s experience involves working on cases relating to a variety of technologies, such a semiconductor devices, smart phones, Bluetooth-enabled devices, mobile apps, and computer software.  She represents clients in a variety of industries, from high technology industries to food and beverage companies, insurance carriers, logistics companies, and medical and financial institutions. 

Rebecca has extensive experience in the courtroom, handling intellectual property and commercial disputes on behalf of a variety of clients.  These advocacy skills were developed early on, when Rebecca spent the beginning of her career as a Deputy County Counsel in San Mateo County, where she successfully represented government agencies in state and federal court, and was lead counsel in over 25 court and jury trials.  In law school, Rebecca served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Santa Clara Law Review, served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye of the California Supreme Court, and was a legal extern at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Advisory counsel for companies in evaluating competitors' use of intellectual property and advising on strategies to protect their rights and effectuate business goals *

Pro bono counsel for multiple entities advising on the protection of intellectual property and accessibility issues relating to App development *

Trial counsel for craft brewery in trademark dispute alleging claims of trademark infringement and unfair competition, including moving for a preliminary injunction to cease infringing conduct *

Trial counsel for insurance company in patent infringement suit against non-practicing entity, successfully negotiating a favorable settlement before service of the complaint *

Trial counsel for peer-to-peer ride share company in trademark and copyright dispute against competitor, including filing a motion to dismiss which led to a successful resolution at mediation *
