ELFA Seminar Series with Hogan Lovells

What’s next for high yield and sustainability?

This year has seen a surge high yield deals incorporating an ESG contractual component, accounting for 12% of the European primary high-yield bond market by volume, and 15% by deal count in the first quarter, compared with around 2% on both measures for both 2019 and 2020*. The growth of sustainability-linked bond issues echoes a similar trend in the leveraged loan market. However, the impact of ESG in the high yield market is now being seen beyond just the increase in green and sustainability-linked bonds.

The European Leveraged Finance Association (ELFA) and Hogan Lovells invite you to explore:

  • What is driving this growth, and what lies ahead?
  • What is the role of law and regulation?
  • What can issuers do to attract ESG-focused investment?
  • Is market practice around due diligence and disclosure fit for purpose, and is the quality and comparability of non-financial data produced by issuers up to the job?
