Ao Chen has broad experience advising corporations, private equity firms, commercial banks, and alternative credit providers on a variety of debt financing transactions. Whether it’s representing clients in large-cap syndicated loans or bespoke middle market transactions Ao is practical, proactive, and strikes a careful balance between achieving an efficient and diligent closing and advancing client interests.
Ao advises clients, borrowers, and lenders alike, through a wide spectrum of debt financing transactions with a particular emphasis on acquisition financings. He has a diverse set of clients across industries ranging from Fortune 500 companies and large commercial banks to emerging companies and middle market direct lenders.
Ao is trained in both civil and common law and practiced at an international law firm in Montreal (Canada) before relocating to New York. He draws upon his cross-border experience and French language skills to help his clients close their most complex international financings.
Representative experience
Represented Tetra Tech in a “certain funds” bridge facility of £714 million plus an additional $350 million in connection with its acquisition of RPS Group
Represented the lead arrangers in $4.05 billion financing for United Natural Food’s acquisition of Supervalu*
Represented IHS Markit in $1.25 billion unsecured revolving credit facility*
Represented Graham Packaging Company Inc. in $510 million notes offering and $1.5 billion credit facility*
Represented an ad hoc group of lenders in connection with debtor-in-possession and exit financing for Fusion Connect*
