Matt provides strategic legal advice and representation to clients engaged in disputes, investigations, and regulatory challenges. His experience spans a diverse range of industries including consumer products, financial services, insurance, media, energy, retail, and construction. He has recently been involved in guiding automotive and medical product manufacturers through High Court litigation.

Matt serves as a dedicated advocate for his clients, driven by achieving positive outcomes that are fair but also commercially practical. His adeptness in crafting and articulating innovative arguments, grounded in both factual analysis and academic rigour, ensures that clients receive robust and tailored representation.

Before joining Hogan Lovells, Matt honed his expertise in dispute resolution and investigations at a leading international law firm’s London office. During this time, he also completed a secondment at a major investment bank, further enhancing his understanding of corporate dynamics and regulatory complexities. He also articled with a top-ranked litigation and insolvency boutique firm in Toronto.

Prior to his legal career, Matt’s tenure in public policy and political management roles equipped him with valuable skills in industry advocacy, government relations, and policy analysis, which continue to inform and complement his legal practice.

Advising an international professional services firm in an internal investigation in preparation for anticipated litigation regarding a highly publicised financial sector collapse*

Acting for a group of US-based journalists in connection with defamation, harassment, GDPR, and other claims in High Court proceedings brought by a subject of investigative reporting*

Acting for a businessperson in defending a fraud claim brought by a foreign state entity by acting as appeal counsel in proceedings to oppose English jurisdiction*
