Gonzalo is a partner in our Intellectual Property, Media and Technology practice. He is specialised in IT law, new technologies, copyright law and commercial IP. He advises on Outsourcing transactions; IT and software contracts, data protection and privacy; electronic signatures; telecoms; copyright licensing and distribution (audiovisual works, music, videogames, etc.); e-commerce; domain names and legal issues related to the Internet, personality rights and advertising.
He is a named as leading individual in the field of TMT: Information Technology in Chambers Global and Chambers Europe. He is also recommended and in the field of IT and Telecoms in Legal 500. Listed in "Best Lawyers guide" as recommended lawyer for Information Technology.
He is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the Czech Arbitration Court for the resolution of disputes on ".eu" domains and member of the panel of arbitrators of Arbitralia for IT disputes.
He makes regular contributions to specialized publications and books on IT Law and he is also a regular speaker in seminars and conferences on IT Law matters.
REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
- A group of 28 telecom operators on the structuring, drafting and negotiation of a complex IT Outsourcing for the provision of all the services required for the operation of the Spanish number portability system
- Google, in its procedures against the Spanish Data Protection Agency in relation to the use of Street View cars
- Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), advice on four major multijurisdictional IT Outsourcings covering the externalization of all FCC's IT and communications infrastructures worldwide (about 50 jurisdictions)
- International reinsurance group, on the Outsourcing contracts for a new division providing tele-underwriting and risk-selection services in Spain
- Inditex (Zara, Massimo Dutti, etc.), in various projects regarding compliance with data protection regulations in several jurisdictions worldwide, as well as in proceedings against the Spanish Data Protection Agency
- Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL), in a project financed with a loan of the IBRD, consisting on the drafting of a number or rules and regulations to govern the E-commerce, Electronic Signatures and Data Protection in the Dominican Republic
- A US telecoms operator, in all aspects concerning notification of its activities and starting of operations in Spain
- A major TV operator, in the drafting and negotiation of an agreement for the licence of content in order to develop a co-branded Internet portal
