Automatic Computer Shutdown Introduced to the London Office

NightWatchman is an energy-saving and cyber security IT application that automatically shuts down computers at a scheduled time each evening. Following a successful trial in one of the London office's buildings over the summer, the system was introduced to the entire London office at the end of last year.

Prior to the installation of NightWatchman, only about half of the computer users in London regularly shut down their computers before leaving the office in the evening. This not only wasted energy but also represented a security risk. If all computers were left on for one hour when they did not need to be, 8kg of CO2 would be wasted, which is the equivalent of the CO2 produced by three average saloon cars' annual mileage.
