Art Auction Helps Disadvantaged Children in Frankfurt

Over €7,000 was raised through an art auction in our Frankfurt office. The money was donated to Mentor e.V., a project that provides reading mentors to disadvantaged school children all over Germany, helping them to improve their grades and successfully finish school.

Along with surplus artwork following the office's relocation several years ago, film posters were also donated from the office's Hollywood-themed holiday party. A viewing was arranged before the auction, allowing all employees to view the paintings and posters and to bid for their favorites. The money raised will be divided between Mentor e.V.'s national charity and the local chapter for the state of Hessen.

Many children living in Germany start school with little to no knowledge of the German language, either written or spoken. As a result, they often have difficulty keeping up in school. By providing them with a reading mentor for one or two semesters, Mentor e.V. helps these students to improve their reading skills, and reports that almost all children improve their grades within six months across all subjects.
