Spotlight on the African Development Bank Group’s Sanctions System
Despite the pandemic, multilateral development banks (MDBs), in particular the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), are quickening the pace of their enforcement activities. This increase can be seen in both tiers of the AfDB’s sanctions process, with the Sanctions Office pursuing more cases, and the Sanctions Appeals Board issuing three decisions in the spring of 2020 alone.
