Dr. Niels Gierse enjoys understanding the details of inventions. He finds convincing arguments, both legal and technical, for your case.
A particular focus of Niels lies in defending technology companies against patent infringement accusations both in patent infringement as well as in nullity proceedings. He works on technical field such as standard essential patents in telecommunication, medical devices and the energy sector.
Niels studied physics at the University of Cologne, attending the honors branch of the Bonn Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy. During his studies he was a visiting student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Before joining us, Niels completed his practical training as a German patent attorney with a patent prosecution focused patent law firm in the heart of Munich. Prior to that, Niels worked as a postdoc in the field of Fusion research in Germany and in Hefei, China.
