Düsseldorf, 10 January 2020 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce new management functions for the Düsseldorf Office. Prof. Dr. Thomas Dünchheim, a member of the firm's worldwide Global Regulatory Leadership Team, has been appointed Head of the Continental European Global Regulatory practice group. Tax partner Dr. Heiko Gemmel, previously a personnel partner, has taken over as Office Managing Partner. Both appointments were effective 1 January.

"The main objective of my new function is to drive the growth of our regulatory practice in Continental Europe," said Dünchheim. "There is potential here, especially at the interfaces to Corporate and Litigation."

Commenting on his new role as Office Managing Partner, Gemmel said:

Dünchheim also heads the international Hogan Lovells Gaming Initiative and has led the Düsseldorf office since 2016. He has more than twenty years of practical experience in the field of public law, in particular in constitutional law, public commercial law, municipal law, environmental, and construction law.

Gemmel currently heads the Hogan Lovells' German tax practice. He regularly advises clients from the financial sector and has many years of experience in managing and coordinating international tax teams. His tax advice focuses on corporate acquisitions, financing and capital market transactions, loan portfolio transactions as well as corporate restructuring, each with a focus on cross-border issues.
