Hogan Lovells partner Henry Kahn receives a surprise dedication for his stellar service as the Center For Urban Families Board Chair from 2015-2022

The Center for Urban Families core mission is to strengthen urban communities by helping fathers and families achieve stability and economic success. Henry is dedicated to community service as he is quoted in the CFUF 2022 Impact Report as saying, “I am committed to the city, and I have a deep interest in Social Justice. The root of my interest in CFUF is my observation of the despair that has fallen over Park Heights and West Baltimore over the course of my life — neighborhoods that were places of opportunity for my grandparents’ and parents’ generations.” 

Baltimore has been Henry’s family’s home since the time of the Great Depression. Henry was born and raised in the city and returned to Baltimore after receiving his Bachelor of Arts at Yale University and Juris Doctorate and The George Washington University Law School. Over the course of his lifetime, he has seen the devastation caused by decades of disinvestment, a legacy of structural racism and failed social policies. But he did not sit back and watch the disruption of vibrant communities caused by white flight, the highway to nowhere, and the disinvestment and profound poverty that followed structural inequities. Instead, he has directed his time and energy to help create hope in a better future.  The dedication of the technology lab is a testament to that service and that of a significant number of his lawyer and non-lawyer colleagues who have helped CFUF members expunge their criminal records.
