Press releases | 05 October 2023

London, 5 October 2023 – Global law firm Hogan Lovells has been granted use of the PPF Trustmark, an initiative launched by the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) to provide its panel firms with a badge that recognises their expertise and high levels of service supporting defined benefit schemes in relation to the PPF’s assessment process.

The PPF Trustmark initiative is part of the PPF’s ongoing work to raise awareness of its protection and provide further reassurance to members. Use of the Trustmark has been granted to Hogan Lovells and other PPF panel firms in recognition of their specialist knowledge, collaborative working with the PPF, and commitment to delivering the highest standards of service set by the PPF.

Hogan Lovells sits on the PPF's specialist legal panel and acted for the PPF in relation to the Hughes v PPF judicial review (including at the Court of Appeal level). Hogan Lovells is currently advising the PPF on correcting members’ benefits following the Hughes judgment and the related Hampshire v PPF judgment.

Claire Southern, Pensions partner, commented: "We are delighted to be recognised for the high standard of service we provide as part of the PPF’s legal panel. We look forward to continued collaboration with the PPF and we hope our use of the Trustmark will provide reassurance to members about the safety of their retirement."

Since its formation in 2005, the PPF has taken over responsibility for paying compensation to nearly 300,000 members whose defined benefit pension schemes have failed. A further 65,000 individuals are members of pensions schemes which are currently going through the assessment process and will benefit from seeing the Trustmark.
