Hogan Lovells Birmingham celebrates the new year with two counsel promotions

Birmingham, 15 January 2021 – Birmingham lawyers Mohammed Alam and Simon Grimshaw have been promoted to counsel as Hogan Lovells announced its annual partner and counsel promotions, effective from 1 January 2021.

Mohammed joined the firm as a senior associate in the real estate team in 2018, with a focus on investment, the real estate aspects of major corporate and finance transactions, and acting for significant corporate occupiers. Matters on which he has since acted include advising Aston Villa FC on the real estate aspects of investment in the club by NSWE; Veolia Environmental on the acquisition of various industrial sites and the real estate aspects of corporate acquisitions; M&G Real Estate on various office and industrial investment acquisitions; Argent Related on its ongoing c.£4 billion regeneration of Brent Cross Town; and HSBC Bank Plc in relation to a £150m finance of a portfolio of retirement villages.

A founding lawyer of Hogan Lovells Birmingham office six years ago, Simon advises clients on all aspects of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and growth capital investments. In the last year he has advised on major matters in the technology space, such as UK-based growth equity firm Grafton Capital on its $20m investment into Omilia, a dynamic innovator in conversational AI; and also Grafton Capital among the shareholders of Softomotive, one of the leading worldwide providers of Robotic Process Automation solutions, on its sale to Microsoft.
