Robert focuses on all aspects of town and country planning law and advises both private and public sector clients. He has extensive experience in complex urban redevelopment and national infrastructure projects and has a particular focus on multifaceted developments in London.  Robert provides strategic advice and support from the pre-application stage through to implementation, including environmental assessments, compulsory acquisition of land, and contentious planning matters, appeals and judicial review.

In addition to holding a degree in architecture, Robert completed professional conservation training before being appointed as Head of Wall Paintings and Senior Architectural Conservator at English Heritage (now Historic England).

Robert’s unique and diverse background has allowed him to establish particular heritage-related development experience, which has enabled him to provide targeted advice on the assessment of heritage impacts, including EIA reviews as part of wider landscape and townscape assessment issues. Robert is the contributing editor for listed buildings and conservation areas for the Butterworths Planning Law Service and sits on a number of conservation and heritage committees.
