Giovanni Ghirardi is described by sources as 'brilliant at court proceedings.'
Chambers Global 2015
A true litigator with a passion for new and cutting-edge technologies, Giovanni has been at the forefront of some of the most complex cases in the patent field. Most of these have resulted in decisions of seminal importance on issues such as FRAND, availability of injunctions in cases involving essential patents, infringement by equivalence, contributory infringement and others.
He is a partner in the firm's Milan office and a member of our Intellectual Property team. In addition to patents, Giovanni focuses on trademarks, unfair competition, copyright and design, and he is particularly sought after on complex IP issues and for litigation with cross-border implications, often involving complex pan-European issues.
Having graduated cum laude at the University of Milan in 1993 (and having obtained a LL.M. in European Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1998), he was somewhat surprised to learn from major directory Chambers Europe (in 2008) that some of his clients had praised him as the best 'young' lawyer in Italian IP.
Easy to reach and straightforward in talking, Giovanni is appreciated for his clear communication style and for his ability to provide a clear global view of a situation as a key strength.
Over the years, he has learnt that listening carefully to what clients have to say and being practical in his advice is a key to success. He is now listed in all major legal directories such as Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500, IAM Patent 1000, WTR 1000 and others notable publications, where he has been recently described as brilliant at court proceedings (Chambers Global) and praised for his "powerful oratorial skills" (IAM Patent 1000). He is a Member of EPLAW.
