Friederike Hermes is a fully qualified German and European Patent Attorney and a registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) at our global patent litigation practice. She advises clients in all technical aspects of patent law with a focus on patent infringement and validity proceedings.

She combines comprehensive scientific knowledge and deep understanding of complex technical issues with legal expertise in intellectual property law. She supports national and international clients in litigation proceedings and provides her technical expertise to the attorneys-at-law at our firm.

Friederike holds a bachelor's degree in biology and completed the international master's programme Biomedical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. She conducted her master's thesis in the field of stem cell biology and tissue engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT. Subsequently, she obtained her doctorate in the area of liver homeostasis and cell biology at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. 

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Friederike worked as a patent attorney trainee at an internationally active patent law firm in Dusseldorf. She acquired in-depth experience of legal problems during her training at the Patent Litigation Chamber of the Higher Regional Court Düsseldorf as well as at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in Munich.
