The impact of the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement on the UK Equity Capital Markets

Hogan Lovells partner Rachel Kent is Chair of the Investment Research Review (IRR), an independent review of financial services investment research and its contribution to the competitiveness of UK capital markets. After an extensive review, Rachel published this report outlining the IRR’s findings in July.

As part of the IRR’s engagement with the market to ensure that the framework for improved investment research coverage is optimised, please join us on Friday, 24 November 2023 for a webinar that will cover the key findings of the report and how the proposals announced in the Autumn Statement could play a pivotal role in driving growth for market participants, and in particular listed companies. The series of ambitious capital market reforms currently in train include the Edinburgh Reforms (which kickstarted the review of investment research), the Financial Services and Markets Act 2023 and the Chancellor’s Mansion House Reforms which aim to support the UK’s international competitiveness. We will discuss how the Autumn Statement builds on these reforms.

Rachel and the following panellists will have a vibrant discussion surrounding results of the final report, key issues it identified, and what it means for market participants, and in particular listed companies in the context of the Autumn Statement:

James Ashton – CEO of the Quoted Companies Alliance (QCA)

Steven Fine – CEO of Peel Hunt

Claire Suddens-Spiers – Global Head of Equity Advisory, Rothschild & Co

Following the panel, Patrick Sarch (Hogan Lovells Head of UK Public M&A) will moderate an interactive Q&A session with the panel. This is your opportunity to hear from those most closely involved in the Review and the impact that the proposed recommendations will have on the market, as well as to feedback on and contribute to the implementation of the Review’s proposals.
