Since 2010, Ben has had a leading role advising on one of the largest and most complex oil & gas projects of recent years.  Working for the BP-led consortium on the entire value chain of the landmark US$45bn Shah Deniz 2 gas project in Azerbaijan has given Ben market-leading insight into the gas industry. The firm's work on this project won the Legal Business "2015 Energy and Infrastructure Firm of the Year" award.

Ben works across the international oil & gas sector – he advises oil companies, investors and governments. Ben has extensive experience around the globe on upstream projects, gas sales and transportation, LNG projects, oil & gas M&A and energy trading. He also advises at the cutting edge of industry regulation.

Representative experience

Advising consortium led by BP and SOCAR on US$45bn Shah Deniz 2 gas project in Azerbaijan with gas value chain to Italy on multiple issues.

Advising TANAP investors led by SOCAR on Intergovernmental and Host Government Agreements with Turkey for the US$10bn Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline.

Advising SOCAR on floating LNG storage and onshore regasification project in Malta and associated long-term LNG sales agreements and structuring issues.

Advising Eneco on longterm LNG throughput contracts with LionGas and GATE terminals at Rotterdam, and procuring LNG on a long term and short term basis.

Advising EDF on capacity/throughput contracts and project shareholder arrangements for LNG import terminal at Dunkerque.

Advising Statoil on farmouts and upstream contractual issues in relation to various interests in Nigeria.

Advising Kuwait Energy on separate acquisitions and disposals for upstream assets in Russia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan, and associated agreements and JOAs.

Advising Oil & Gas UK and downstream gas industry on EU Gas Network Code amendments to claims validation agreements for gas entering GB gas network.
