Shalini is a Partner in the Asset Finance practice based in London. Recently named by Legal Business as "one to watch" and well known by clients and peers alike for her commercial and solution driven approach, Shalini has extensive experience in a broad range of asset finance work and has been involved in a variety of complex cross-border aviation, shipping, plant and equipment transactions, as well as, general banking transactions.  

Shalini's experience includes loan and lease financings including capital markets financings, operating leases and charters, single asset and portfolio disposals and acquisitions; her clients include banks, lessors, airlines, shipping companies, funds and private equity firms. 

Shalini's practice also includes considerable experience in Africa and she is a member of the Africa Group at Hogan Lovells.

Shalini has been the lead counsel on a number of complex matters which represent key trends in the asset finance market – both product based (such as privately placed bond financings trending in the aviation industry, alternative lending in the shipping industry and loan portfolio acquisitions and disposals) and geographically (such as in the African region).

Representative experience

Advising an Australian commercial bank on its acquisition of a circa $800m aircraft loan portfolio from a German bank.

Advising African Export-Import Bank as mandated lead arranger and junior lender on the circa. $50,000,000 financing of two Bombardier Q400 aircraft for Air Côte d'Ivoire. The senior financing was provided by Export Development Canada.

Advising African Export-Import Bank as mandated lead arranger in relation to a circa $2bn pre-delivery and delivery financing for Kenya Airways Limited of 10 Embraer E-190 aircraft, 9 Boeing 787 aircraft and 1 Boeing 777 aircraft.

Advising Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (NAS) on the financing of fifteen new Boeing 737-800 aircraft through a number of private placements to US institutional investors.

Advising Standard Chartered in relation to a restructuring and mezzanine facility for Greenship Gas.

Advising Helios Anchor Maritime, Ltd. on a ship financing to Starzs Investments Company Limited.

Advising the Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APRICORP) and Tufton Oceanic in relation to the financing for and acquisition of five medium range petroleum product.

Advising a Brazillian oil major in relation to the sale and lease back of a number of driling platforms.

Advising a government owned sponsor on the purchase, financing, conversion and chartering of an LNG vessel as a floating storage facility.

Advising Pembroke Capital in relation to the sale of 3 A320-232 aircraft on lease to South African Airways, to GECAS.

Advising Natixis Transport Finance in relation to 2 JOLCO financings of 2 Embraer E190 aircraft on lease to KLM Cityhopper for subsidiaries of Nomura Babcock & Brown Co.

Advising an African multilateral in relation to the financing of four platform supply vessels for an African shipping company.

Advising LMH Oceanic Portfolio Company Limited in relation to the purchase and charter back of a newbuild Heavy Lift Vessel for SE Shipping Lines Pte Ltd.
