In the light of the continued increase in significant mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and licensing transactions worldwide, in particular the significant increase of out-bound transactions of Japanese companies, this seminar will cover key corporate, tax, regulatory and intellectual property considerations for Japanese companies that are interested in investing or expanding in Europe.
We will focus on the life sciences sector, and part of the seminar will address the regulatory environment for medicinal products and medical devices in Europe and the price reimbursement rules for innovative medicinal products. We will also provide some practical and strategic advice on the establishment of subsidiaries in Europe and the impact of the forthcoming Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court on commercial transactions including in relation to Supplementary Protection Certificates.
We intend to cover fundamental issues and also to share topical insights and developments gained from our recent international experience: we hope this will help facilitate effective and successful transactions not only for Japanese companies, in particular such companies active in the life sciences industry, that may be contemplating expansion into Europe but also for those companies with an established European presence.
