Cross-border M&A between the United States and Europe

Planning for a shifting geopolitical, market, and regulatory environment

We are honored to host Dr. Christian Kames, Vice Chair of Investment Banking for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and Vice Chair of Investment Banking for EMEA Diversified Industries at J.P. Morgan, who will deliver the keynote speech, which will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Kames and senior members of the Hogan Lovells M&A team from the United States, the UK, and Germany. 

The panel will discuss the recent trends impacting cross-border M&A between the United States and Europe, including:  

• the invasion of Ukraine and the related impacts on market conditions (e.g., energy prices and supply chain)
• the imposition of sanctions on Russia
• the current approach to antitrust / merger control / foreign investment
• the persisting impacts of the pandemic, including growing economic nationalism.

We will also share insights on the strategies for structuring cross-border transactions in light of these developments, with a particular focus on the perspective of German businesses.
