Hogan Lovells senior attorney Erin Sokol appointed to Fourth District Court

Colorado Springs, CO 13 July 2017 – Today, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper announced that Hogan Lovells senior attorney Erin L. Sokol, of the firm’s Colorado Springs office, has been appointed as a judge to the Fourth Judicial District Court.

Sokol, who takes the bench on 1 August, will fill a vacancy on the court following the retirement of Judge Gilbert Martinez. She has been with Hogan Lovells since rejoining the firm in August 2014. From 2000 to 2004, she worked as an associate in the firm’s Colorado Springs office when it was known as Hogan & Hartson.

Sokol represents for-profit and nonprofit entities in litigation matters across a broad spectrum of industries, including accounting, professional sports, real estate, banking and financial management, hotel/hospitality, education, medical, transportation, and construction. In her employment practice, Sokol counsels corporate clients on a wide range of issues, including reductions in force, employment policies and handbooks, employment agreements and offer letters, independent contractor agreements, severance agreements, wage and hour issues, trade secrets and confidential information, and compliance with state and federal employment laws.

Active in the community, Sokol serves as a trustee for the Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado and has been active in a number of charitable organizations such as the El Paso County Bar Foundation, the Ben S. Wendelken Inn of Court, the El Paso County and Colorado Bar Associations, and the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities of Southern Colorado. Sokol earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1999 and her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1996, graduating with highest distinction.
