IAA Mobility 2023

Are you ready for the future? We will be participating at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, where the development of the future of mobility is at the heart of the global debate.

The automotive and mobility industry is undergoing a unique transformation. Our Hogan Lovells Global MOVE Sectors team will engage in two sessions to explore opportunities and challenges of the changing industry:

Wednesday // 6 September // 11.15am // Yellow Stage
Presentation: 'A once in a century mobility transition: Impact of ESG and Geopolitics'

Patrick Ayad, Global Leader MOVE Sectors, and Lance Bultena, Global Director of Thought Leadership MOVE Sectors will highlight the monumental shift in the automotive and mobility industry due to technological change and the additional challenges posed by ESG and geopolitics. Most industry analysts anticipated significant challenges in the transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. Further complexity was expected with the fundamental transformation of the driving experience and new revenue streams enabled by connectivity, sensors, and software. These major technological changes are impacted by increasing geopolitical competition, which impacts supply chains and threatens global sales. ESG measures used to be at the discretion of companies but are increasingly being forced by public policy and promoted by activists who are creating "new political risks”.

Thursday // 7 September // 10am // Visionary Clubhouse
Panel: 'ESG and Circular Economy transforming mobility'

Patrick Ayad, Global Leader MOVE Sectors, and Sebastian Polly, Global Co-Head Automotive and Mobility, will be joined by external speakers Luise Müller-Hofstede, Business Development Director at Circulor, and Constantin Schwaab, CEO at Wirelane, and will explore the impact of ESG concerns, including the circular economy, on the mobility transformation, and the role of government regulation and financial markets. Topics explored will be environmental concerns as they apply to energy use and emissions not only in the “drive chain” of mobility platforms, but also in supply chains, concerns about equitable access to new mobility platforms, and the impact of mobility changes on a variety of societal stakeholders.
