Firas is a senior associate in our Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects (IERP) practice, based in our London office. He advises clients on M&A and project development across the oil and gas, energy transition, renewable and mining sectors, primarily in Africa, as well as in EMEA. More recently, Firas has been advising oil & gas and renewable clients on various projects in the energy transition space, including hydrogen, CCS and offshore wind.

He has spent four years working in Paris, where he undertook a secondment to the gas division of EDF’s in-house legal team. He primarily advised on gas-to-power projects and long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements.

Vitol on the construction contracts for the development of a £1bn carbon capture facility retrofit onto an existing gas-to-power plant, UK.*

A confidential client on the development of a first-in-country carbon capture and storage project, North Africa.*

HYRO (a joint venture between RES and Octopus Energy) on the construction contracts for the development of three green hydrogen projects, UK.*

Northern Ireland Water on the construction contracts for the development of a hydrogen demonstrator project for one of its wastewater treatment facilities, UK.*

A confidential client on its entry into a $1bn long-term green ammonia sale and purchase agreement from a green hydrogen project, Middle East.*

bp on the creation of Azule Energy, its $14bn joint venture with Eni, combining both companies’ entire upstream portfolio in Angola and creating one of Africa's largest independent energy companies.*

Mitsui on the divestment of its interest in EG LNG, the $3bn LNG plant in Equatorial Guinea.*

Angola Japan Oil Co., Limited, a majority owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, on the $80m sale to Maurel & Prom of a 20% interest in two producing and development blocks, offshore Angola.*

Vivo Energy on the development and financing of oil terminals in Francophone West Africa including throughput rights and shareholder arrangements.*

GL Investments on the acquisition of a 50% interest in the Kursangi and Karabagli producing oilfields, onshore Azerbaijan.*

Ecowende (a joint venture between Shell and Eneco) on the construction contracts for the development of the 760MW offshore wind farm, Hollandse Kust (West), Netherlands.*
