Partners Juan Francisco Torres Landa and Emil Arca named among Latinvex's Top 100 Lawyers in Latin America
Head of global law firm Hogan Lovells’ Latin America Practice Group Juan Francisco Torres Landa and Capital Markets partner Emil Arca have been named two of Latinvex’s Top 100 lawyers in Latin America. The 12th annual ranking includes 100 attorneys from 59 law firms, spanning categories including arbitration & litigation, banking & finance, capital markets, corporate/M&A, energy, FCPA & fraud, and project finance.
Torres Landa, who is based in Mexico City, counsels clients on financing projects and acquisitions, foreign investments, foreign trade, arbitration, immigration, environmental matters, economic competition, mining, taxation of non-residents, and telecommunications, among other matters. In particular, Torres Landa recently represented Mondelēz International in its US$3.1 billion agreement for the purchase of Ricolino, Grupo Bimbo’s confectionary business, which doubled the size of Mondelēz’s presence in Mexico. More about the transaction can be found here.
Latinvex also cited Torres Landa’s Chambers Latin America 2024 ranking as part of the recognition.
Based in New York, Arca is a partner in the firm’s Latin America Practice Group and a member of the firm's global Capital Markets leadership team. He represents underwriters, placement agents, issuers, investors, lenders, borrowers, and insurers in debt capital markets, banking, and restructuring transactions, particularly in emerging markets.
Latinvex noted Arca’s role representing Banco Guayaquil on a dual-tranche notes offering from its diversified payments rights (DPR) securitization program as part of the recognition, as well as his role representing Banco Diners Club on the establishment of its Visa credit card merchant voucher receivables securitization program and first issuance thereunder. It ranked him in both the Banking and Capital Markets categories.
The criteria for Latinvex’s rankings included a combination of factors, including recent track record on major deals and business, prominence of firm in Latin America and rankings by third parties such as Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and LSEG. More about this year’s rankings can be found here.
