Singapore, 05 May 2023 - Global law firm Hogan Lovells has again put in a strong performance at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards for the Asia-Pacific region, scoring highly in areas including innovation in people and strategy, and sustainability.
FOUR OF THE FIRM’S SUBMISSIONS WERE INCLUDED IN THE REPORT:
- In the “Business of Law” category, commended for our town-twinning program, piloted first between Singapore and Los Angeles, which aims to improve collaboration between global offices and help encourage lawyers to cross-sell to clients. [the idea was first developed by senior associate Khushaal Ved].
- In the “Practice of Law” category, commended for successfully guiding the International Finance Corporation on two precedent-setting bond issuances in the Philippines in the health and hospitality sectors, supporting the region’s ESG goals and the sustainable bond market growth [led by Partner Andy Ferris].
- In the “Innovative individual leaders” category, Regional Managing Partner, Lloyd Parker was singled out as a law firm leader who demonstrates empathy, dynamism and vision. In particular he is commended for his approach to consolidate work across the region operating as one business rather than as separate offices, for his passion in supporting people’s careers, and his ability and enthusiasm to solve clients’ problems with innovative approaches.
- In the “Innovative individual practitioners” category, Shanghai Office Managing Partner and Partner Katie Feng was selected among 10 lawyers for her creative problem-solving. Katie played a key part in the success of the 2016 joint venture with Fujian Fidelity Law Firm, one of the first and very few to have taken place in the legal sector between an international firm and a local firm in the shanghai free trade zone. This partnership has allowed us to expand our client offering in China.
Regional Managing Partner for Asia-Pacific, Lloyd Parker, commented: “Innovation has been a core element of our firm's culture for a long time. Having our work recognised by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards is a fantastic affirmation of our culture and our people.”
