Jonas combines a strong scientific background with extensive legal expertise in intellectual property. He holds a doctorate in biotechnology from RWTH Aachen University, where he graduated summa cum laude. His doctoral research focused on the development of in situ assembling microgel-in-hydrogel matrices for directed spinal cord regeneration, a highly interdisciplinary project spanning nanotechnology, chemistry, biology, and medicine.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Jonas gained broad experience in both private practice and industry. As an in-house patent attorney at a global life science company, he managed all IP matters in cell culture media, cell line development, and cell and gene therapy, including complex portfolio management, FTO analyses, M&A IP due diligence, and contract negotiations.
Jonas trained as a patent attorney at an internationally active patent law firm in Düsseldorf, focusing on prosecution, opposition, and infringement proceedings. He further deepened his legal expertise during his training at the Patent Litigation Chamber of the Higher Regional Court Düsseldorf, the German Patent and Trademark Office, and the Federal Patent Court in Munich.
