David Michaeli is a litigator focused on commercial solutions to business issues. In and out of the courtroom, David emphasizes strategic thinking in order to help clients achieve their business objectives.
David's practice, which has earned him recognition by a prominent trade publication as a Rising Star in the areas of business and appellate litigation, includes complex commercial litigation, products liability, and international disputes in state and federal courts, mediation and arbitration forums. David represents clients in a variety of industries, including energy, telecommunications, and financial services, and has particular experience litigating cross-border claims. David also advises clients on commercial matters, including jurisdictional and other issues in connection with cross-border transactions, and has particular experience advising M&A clients on strategies for minimizing litigation and commercial risks. David provides practical advice tailored to help clients efficiently achieve their business and strategic goals.
In addition to his work for businesses, David maintains a robust pro bono practice and is active in the legal community. David has served for several years as lead associate on the firm's representation of a death-sentenced prisoner in Florida, on whose behalf he has conducted hearings and litigated numerous innocence and constitutional claims. David also represents domestic violence victims, seeking orders of protection and immigration assistance, and has counseled charitable organizations on a variety of issues. David has been recognized as an Empire State Counsel by the New York State Bar Association for his pro bono efforts to serve low-income members of his community in each year he has been admitted to practice, and has also been recognized by the Firm for outstanding commitment to pro bono work.
David is currently a member of the New York County Lawyers' Association Federal Courts Committee and formerly served as secretary of the New York City Bar Association's Committee on State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction, and as a member of that committee's Legislative Subcommittee.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, David was an associate at a prominent New York law firm, an extern at the United Nations, and a summer associate at Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells).
