For over 15 years, Erik has been helping investment managers, promoters and investors launch and invest in funds. Erik advises across a full range of alternative asset classes, and has established funds investing in private equity, infrastructure, renewables, reinsurance, real estate, emerging markets as well as hedge funds. As a partner and head of the listed funds practice at Hogan Lovells, Erik pioneered the London Main Market listed infrastructure fund market as well as the London listed reinsurance fund market, acting for most of the listed funds in these sectors. Erik is also noted by Chambers & Partners for his private funds work and he is recognized as a leading lawyer by Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and a number of other legal directories.

Erik has advised both issuers and underwriters on many of the recent London listings of renewables and reinsurance funds as well as REITs. He has experience of listings on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, the Specialist Fund Market, AIM and the Irish and Channel Islands exchanges. To complement his work advising fund managers and promoters, Erik acts for a variety of institutional investors (including DFIs, funds of funds and sovereign wealth funds) on primary, secondary and co-investments in alternative investments.

Representative experience

Acting on the IPOs and subsequent capital raisings of HICL Infrastructure Company, International Public Partnerships, John Laing Infrastructure Fund, BBGI (amongst others).
Acting for a number of investment banks including Canaccord Genuity, Jefferies International, JP Morgan Cazenove, Macquarie Capital, Numis Securities on underwriting and bookrunning mandates.
Launching hedge funds for both boutique and large institutional managers including Martin Currie, Hermes, Lehman Brothers, Optimum Asset Management and Metage Capital.
Establishing private equity businesses for managers including Promethean Investments, Elephant Capital and Martin Currie's China focussed private equity funds and managed account mandates.
Acting for investors (including pension funds, SWFs, DFIs and funds of funds) on primary investments into funds, secondary transactions in fund interests and co-investment arrangements.
