Silicon Valley trio named in The California Daily Journal Top 100

Silicon Valley, 20 September, 2019 - Hogan Lovells M&A partners Rick Climan, Keith Flaum, and Jane Ross have been named in the California Daily Journal's prestigious list of the Top 100 Lawyers in California. The award recognizes 100 California-based attorneys whose work "has had the widest impact and has changed an industry, the law, or society as a whole." Hogan Lovells was the only firm to have three M&A lawyers ranked, all based in our Silicon Valley office.

Throughout their careers, all three have played major roles in prominent technology M&A deals in the U.S. and internationally.

The Daily Journal noted "Climan has led industry-changing acquisitions in the technology and life sciences sector for more than three decades. He's also a teacher." Climan was recognized for his ongoing mentorship of next generation M&A lawyers and his role in leading a number of recent high-profile transactions, including Walmart's US$16 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Indian e-commerce group Flipkart, and chipmaker Marvell Technology Group's acquisition of publicly traded rival Cavium, valued at approximately US$6 billion. Flaum was recognized for his lead role on Applied Materials' pending US$2.2 billion acquisition of all outstanding shares of Kokusai Electric, and Autodesk's US$875 million acquisition of software company PlanGrid. His full biography can be found here.

Ross was recognized for her lead role on Adobe's acquisitions of Marketo and Magento Commerce which were collectively valued at nearly US$6.45 billion. According to Refinitiv, Marketo's US$4.75 billion sale to Adobe was one of the largest M&A transactions by a California company in 2018. Her full biography can be found here.
