Ellevate Network and Hogan Lovells host: Finance, Markets & the Economy

Hogan Lovells partnered with Ellevate network to co-host an event in the New York office on Finance, Markets & the Economy, which featured a powerhouse panel in finance—including New York partner Deb Staudinger, Sallie Krawcheck, and Joyce Chang (Chair of Global Research, J.P. Morgan). Hogan Lovells CEO Steve Immelt introduced the program and the panel was moderated by Erica Duignan Minnihan, Founder and Managing Partner of 1000 Angels.

If you’ve been following the news and the financial markets, you’ve probably heard investors, economists, and experts talk about an impending recession. In 2018, there was buzz about a market crash in 2019, yet here we are more than half way through and financial markets are still soaring, reaching new record levels. We can certainly say we’re not in crisis yet.

Last September marked the 10-year anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers and some experts are forecasting a global bust for 2020 - and for good reason, with rising debt, trade wars, and an overheated economy. It’s not a question of if markets will crash; it’s a question of when.
