Nicole Banton focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, and other corporate transactional matters.

Prior to law school, Nicole worked in higher education administration and gained legal experience as a Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Law Fellow at an international law firm and in the legal department of a multinational investment bank.

She held various leadership positions while in law school, including serving as Firm Relations Chair for the Black Law Students Association, Assistant Development Editor of the Journal of Law & Politics, and President of Virginia Law Women. 

Nicole is also passionate about her pro bono practice, with a focus on child advocacy and working with survivors of domestic violence. During law school, Nicole volunteered as a member of the Domestic Violence Project and represented juvenile clients in delinquency matters, as well as related school discipline and special education matters, as a founding member of the Holistic Juvenile Defense Clinic.

International Business Machines, Inc. on its US$147m acquisition of Ahana Cloud, Inc., an expert in open-source-based, managed cloudnative data analytics solutions.

The Independents Group, a global luxury and lifestyle marketing group, K10 Holdings SA, a Luxembourg public LLC, on the US$45M purchase of Prodject, LLC, a NY-based creative agency. 

Western New England Bancorp on '33 and '34 Act reporting, Section 16 reporting, and ongoing corporate governance advice.

Marsh & McLennan on the sale of Mercer’s US health and benefits admin and UK pension admin business to Bain Capital Insurance and the formation of Aptia, a benefits plan management company. 

Howard University, which operates Howard University Hospital, on its transition of Howard University Hospital into its subsidiary, Howard University Hospital Corp.

Meharry and the Diaspora Human Genomics Institute on the Together for CHANGE initiative, a collaboration with pharmaceutical industry partners Regeneron, AstraZeneca, Novo Nordisk, and Roche.
