Sebastian van Bastelaer is a junior associate in the Investigations, White Collar and Fraud group. He has assisted clients in the healthcare, sports, education, and food and beverage industries at all stages of an investigation. He also has an active pro bono practice, having represented clients in civil rights, immigration, sports, and environmental matters. 

Sebastian is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he also earned a concurrent master's in legal history. While at UVA, he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Journal of International Law and was an active member of the Environmental Law and Community Engagement Clinic. He also interned for a federal judge at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. For his legal history master's thesis, he was awarded the Roger and Madeleine Traynor Prize, given to the graduate with the best written work product in his law school class. 

Prior to law school, Sebastian worked for an educational nonprofit focused on historical education in Washington, D.C. and for a research organization based in the United Kingdom. He also has experience in state politics.
